Accreditation Actions
June 2021 Accreditation Action: Accept the Progress Report.
Rationale: The program is compliant with all Standards.
Accreditation Award: Continuing Accreditation
November 2020 Accreditation Action: Grant 10 years of Continuing Accreditation with a Progress Report. The program remains non-compliant with the following Standards:
The following Standards are Partially Met:
Standard 4. Program Goals. The action plan has been updated, however, the communities of interest goal remains partially met.
Standard 8. Communities of Interest Goal. The August 2020 PEP does not include service to the HIM community. However, information was submitted that showed that the program made a generous donation to the TxHIMA. This would be considered as service to the HIM community. The Standard remains Partially Met because this needs to be added to the PEP. As stated by the site reviewer team, satisfaction with entry-level employees does not meet the intent of the Standard and should be removed or moved to another goal.
Standard 24. The Curriculum. Eight curriculum competencies are Partially Met. Five are Not Met. Several assignments either did not match the competencies or did not meet the required taxonomy level or could not be accessed. Create or revise assignments to meet identified deficient competencies.
Standard 25. Curriculum Sequence. Curriculum changes have not yet been implemented with students.
Standard 26. Curriculum Syllabi and Competencies. HIM Entry-level competencies are not listed on syllabi.0
Standard 28. Professional Practice Experiences. The Professional Practice Experience (PPE) will not be offered again until Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, so new policies are not fully implemented yet.
