Accreditation Actions

May 2024 Accreditation Action: Grant 7 years of Initial Accreditation with a Progress Report. The program remains non-compliant with the following Standard:
The following Standard is Partially Met:
Standard 13. Program-Specific Curriculum. The institution has revised the curriculum to reflect a minimum of health informatics competencies specified in the AMIA Competencies for Health Informatics Education at the Master’s Degree Level. The curriculum mostly focuses on knowledge, skills and very little on attitudes. The reviewed courses do not introduce students to Miller’s Level of achievement expected of them.
Rationale Statements: The competency levels for the following Foundational Domains were not sufficiently demonstrated within required core courses in the curriculum:
FD 5. Human Factors and Socio-Technical Systems;
FD 6. Social and Behavioral Aspects of Health:
The curriculum lacks content from theory to practical applications of social behavioral theories and human factors as applied to
information systems design.
FD 7. Social, Behavioral and Information Science and Technology Applied to Health. Although BHI 503, 504, and 507 appear to be general application courses or cover topics as overviews, the course/s content lacks the specificity needed for a higher domain (FD7).
FD 9. Interprofessional Collaborative Practice There are no courses that sufficiently cover this domain.
