Thank you for being part of the CAHIIM Forum (“Forum”). To ensure the best possible experience for all Forum participants, we have established some basic guidelines for participation. We run our organization on the core values of commitment, innovation, integrity, and respect. As you participate in the CAHIIM Forum, we hope you will remember these values that are intrinsic to CAHIIM’s mission.
By participating in the CAHIIM Forum, you agree to abide by the CAHIIM Forum Code of Conduct, found below.

What is the CAHIIM Forum?

What is the CAHIIM Forum?
CAHIIM Forum is a community for CAHIIM participants to engage in the sharing of knowledge and information. CAHIIM encourages participants to come prepared to share experiences, ask questions of your peers, and participate in ongoing conversation. To ensure the best possible experience, for all CAHIIM Forum participants, we have established some basic rules, which cover etiquette and govern participation within the CAHIIM Forum.
In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, CAHIIM reserves the right to utilize the Forum Violation Policy on CAHIIM Forum participants who violate these rules.
CAHIIM Forum Rules
- Treat participants with respect and courtesy. Let others have their say, just as you may. Don’t challenge or attack others. Be civil and professional, and don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech. The discussions and comments are meant to stimulate conversation not to create contention.
- Behave ethically. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, harassing, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will be removed. Do not post anything that you would not want the world to see or that you would not want anyone to know came from you.
- Advertising is prohibited. Solicitations of any kind (service, product, research, etc.) are prohibited. Participants cannot post commercial messages or promotions.
- CAHIIM reserves the right to remove any content without notice and for any reason. CAHIIM reserves the right to remove accounts with inactivity of at least 12 months or more.
- Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, affiliation, location.
- Please note carefully all items listed in the legal rules below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted to the Forum.
- Remember that CAHIIM and other participants have the right to reproduce postings.
General Tips
Some general tips to help you maintain good etiquette when reproducing content.
- Be courteous. Please ask participants for permission to republish their words elsewhere (especially if elsewhere would be a publicly viewable setting).
- When citing CAHIIM Forum discussions, please include a link back to the original discussion or to the CAHIIM Forum homepage.

Discussion forums are provided as a service of CAHIIM. CAHIIM is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by others. CAHIIM disclaims all warranties with regard to information posted on this site, whether posted by CAHIIM or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. In no event shall CAHIIM be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site. CAHIIM Forum participants may not use CAHIIM-owned intellectual property without the express permission of CAHIIM.
Do not post any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials. Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that he or she owns the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, by posting material, the posting party grants to CAHIIM and the participants of this Forum the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.
CAHIIM does not actively monitor these sites for inappropriate postings and does not on its own undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that an inappropriate posting is brought to CAHIIM ‘s attention, CAHIIM will take all appropriate action.
CAHIIM reserves the right to block any users who do not abide by these guidelines.

Forum Violation Policy
The CAHIIM Forum rules and etiquette are meant to give our participants a general idea of the guidelines one should follow when participating in the Forum. In order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, CAHIIM reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to (i) remove any postings or other content that is not consistent with these rules or otherwise not in the best interests of CAHIIM; and (ii) suspend or terminate access to the CAHIIM Forum for violations of these rules or for otherwise acting in a manner contrary to the interests of the CAHIIM.
Taking action against one of our participants, particularly in regard to removing an account, is something we would like to avoid, but may have to happen in order to protect the quality of service we strive to provide to our participants. This restriction is not intended to limit in any way the professional networking and educational advantages of the CAHIIM Forum.
When unsure whether content is consistent with these policies, please err on the side of caution and do not post the content in the CAHIIM Forum. If there are any questions on what content is appropriate to post, please contact info@cahiim.org. There are a variety of actions we may take to respond to inappropriate behavior or content depending on the exact circumstance of a particular case. Actions we take may include content removal or account suspension or termination.
The community rules and etiquette may be revised from time to time and it’s the participant’s responsibility to stay abreast of any changes.
Possible actions for Rules and Etiquette violations:
- An email or phone call is communicated to the participant that explains the violation that occurred.
- An email or phone call is communicated to the participant who violated the guidelines. The participant’s CAHIIM Forum community account may be suspended for 30 days.
- An email warning is communicated to the participant who violated the guidelines. The participant’s CAHIIM Forum community account may be suspended for three months.
- CAHIIM reserves the right to edit or delete a post. However, CAHIIM generally will not edit or delete posts for participants, unless there has been a severe violation of the CAHIIM Forum Rules and Etiquette.
- To clarify or edit a message posted, we recommend the original post to reply to the existing message. At CAHIIM ’s discretion, older messages that may cause confusion or contain outdated information may be archived or deleted
